For 2026 we will be working from Patty Lyons' books: Knitting Bag of Tricks. We will be using both the book and workbook.
For this program you will need both A Knitting Bag of Tricks and the companion workbook, both by Patty Lyons. We will work through the books together - there will be homework each month in preparation.

Meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month in Centerville, Ohio, unless otherwise specified. You can email us if you need the location. We will have social knitting from 6:30 - 7 pm, and the meetings will begin at 7 pm. Materials needed and homework will be added here as each meeting gets closer.

Swatch #1 still on the needles with the yarn
Books
A writing utensil
How to prepare:
Read the intro in both books
Read Chapter 1 in both books
Using a non-super wash wool, knit Swatch #1 following the instructions on pg 14 of the workbook. Do not cut the yarn and leave the swatch on the needles.

Read Chapter 2 and pages 142-143 from Chapter 6 in the book
Knit Swatch #2 (directions are found on page 11 - and as you knit through the exercises below)
Swatch #2 will be knit as you work through the first three exercises of Lesson 2.

Measure and record guage before and after blocking Swatch #2

Knit Swatch #3, #4, and #5 as described on page 44 of the workbook (you will need 3 different fibers)
Block each swatch as directed
Measure size (length and width of each swatch before and after hanging overnight
Work through Test Drive Your Fabric and complete Swatchservations on pages 44 and 45 of the workbook

Ball bands of your three yarns
Cloth/plastic measuring tape for measuring yourself and/or your sweater
Sweater that fits you well
Scale for weighing yarn and swatches (optional)
