We are heading to camp!
We have a fun schedule planned with all the camp stuff involved.
There will be merit buttons to earn!
There will be lots of small, fun projects to do.
Program: Knotty by Nature - learn about magic knot balls and how to use them. Some crochet instruction may be included.
Materials to bring: Scraps of yarn of any size and a crochet hook - size is not important but F-K are good sizes
How to prepare: There is no prep to do
Program: Cabin Fever - focus on Log Cabin
Materials to bring: Your completed first square and three colors of yarn. This is a terrific method to use up scraps!
How to prepare: Arrive at the class ready to roll by knitting the first square:
1. With size 7 or 8 needles, cast on 10 stitches with worsted weight yarn.
2. Knit 20 rows. There should be 10 garter ridges.
3. Bind off using the traditional method of knit 2, pass first stitch on right needle over second stitch, knit 1, pass first stitch over the stitch just knit, and continue. DO NO BIND OFF THE LAST STITCH. Leave the last stitch on your needle.
Program: Hook, Line, & Sinker - market bags galore, both knit and crochet
This month, your camp counselors will be teaching you how to fish! Or, actually, discussing how you can carry your “catch” home from the market, yarn shop, bookstore, etc. Reusable totes are a great way to burn up some cotton, acrylic or linen stash. Or use up some leftovers from other projects. You don’t want to use stretchy yarns for this - the open nature of the stitches used in most totes makes them quite stretchy! The exception is if you want to felt a tote - then use non superwash wool.
Materials to bring: totes you have completed along with the yarn and pattern info to share. Bring the yarn, needles, and pattern to start a tote during the meeting!
How to prepare: There is no prep.
Program: Flower Power - all about 3D granny squares (crochet heavy)
Materials to bring: 2-4 colors of yarn and a crochet hook appropriate for the yarn. Worsted weight is recommended but you can be successful with what you have on hand.
How to prepare: There is no prep work for this one.
Program: Sock Savvy - start with a pair of socks, cast on and magic loop
Materials to bring:
DK yarn or use two strands of fingering weight held together; cashmere yarn is not recommended
